Tadcaster Albion

Tadcaster Albion football ground, Ings Lane

Tadcaster Albion is the premier football club of Tadcaster. It was formed in 1892 as John Smith’s FC, and changed its name in 1923. The team currently play in the Northern Premier East division. The team have also played Leeds United in early season friendlies as part of Leeds’ preparation for the new season.

The club’s ground is next to the river Wharfe, downstream of the bridge, and has been affected in recent years by floods, notably in winter 2015/16 and 2019/20. Recovery from these floods has been largely due to the efforts and fundraising of the local community.

The Tadcaster Albion website gives more history on the club.
